The Four-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference webinar series continues on Thursday, Sept. 18, featuring Dr. Joel Pankowski discussing a new approach to mycotoxin mitigation.
Pankowski’s presentation, “Mycotoxin Mitigation: A New Approach,” describes how mycotoxins can be formed on crops in the field, during harvest, or during storage, processing or feeding.
According to Fred Hall, extension dairy specialist with Iowa State University, the threat of mycotoxins also exists in silage.
“Ruminants are susceptible to the detrimental effects of mycotoxins in their diet, meaning herd production and performance and, ultimately, profitability could be taking a hit,” he said.
This webinar will review and discuss research-backed strategies for mitigating mycotoxins. Attendees will learn how to objectively evaluate and implement various mycotoxin mitigation options.
“This process will help identify research-proven and field-tested opportunities to enhance herd profitability,” said Hall.
Producers, dairy consultants and industry representatives are encouraged to attend the live webinar from noon to 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, Sept. 18, by registering online at least one hour prior to the webinar’s start time.
